Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
Eric Cook Jr.
Pastor Eric Cook Jr is the co-founding pastor of Vision City Church of Kansas City, MO. A native of Philadelphia, PA, Eric began serving in ministry as a teenager through his first love - music. He began his career teaching and writing songs for other singers and choirs and eventually obtained his undergraduate degree in Music from Millersville University. Today, Eric is known as an accomplished singer, songwriter, vocal coach, choir director, and worship leader. His passion for music ministry has made him a sought-after workshop and seminar speaker teaching worship and biblical approaches to music ministry.
After obtaining his graduate degree in Religion and Worship Studies, Eric continued to serve the church in various roles - a Minister of Music, Worship Pastor, and Youth Pastor. He is often referred to as Professor E because of his teaching style and his unique approach to vocal training, a door that allowed him to work as an Associate Professor and Choir Director at Kansas Christian College. In the community, he works in juvenile justice serving at-risk youth and families through the Jackson County Family Court system. Eric is also an entrepreneur who co-founded 22Vision Consulting Group with his wife, Pastor Jalima. Through this business entity, they partner with other businesses, organizations, and fellow entrepreneurs to fulfill the vision God has given them.
Pastor Eric stands firm in the truth that it is the word of God that holds the answers to life's circumstances. He endeavors to share the gospel through relevant and practical messages in hope to show that living life with Christ is enjoyable and not complicated. Pastor Eric lives by Proverbs 3:5-8, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones."
Jalima Cook, affectionately referred to as Pastor. J, is the co-founding pastor of Vision City Church. She is also a preacher, author, entrepreneur, and founder of “Finding Me Ministries” - an outreach and empowerment ministry for women. Born and raised in the city of Philadelphia, Jalima was raised in a single-parent home where she was taught to always press toward greatness in all she does – NO EXCUSES! Jalima has taken that life lesson and applied it to every area of her life.
After graduating from Millersville University with her Bachelor’s degree in English, her goal was to attend law school; however, God had another plan. Jalima heard the voice of God calling her to the preaching and teaching ministry. To become more equipped in fulfilling this call, Jalima began the pursuit to earn her Master’s degree and in 2012 she graduated from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary earning her Masters of Divinity with a concentration in Professional Ministry. Jalima knew that in addition to her calling to serve in the church that she would also use her gifts and training to serve and support others beyond the four walls of the church. Jalima’s keen gift in administration has provided her with opportunities to serve various churches, businesses, and entrepreneurs as an administrative consultant and contractor. Jalima passionately teaches (and preaches) on the message of vision and applies it to how she serves others. She co-founded, alongside her husband, 22Vision Consulting Group, and together, they work alongside business owners & other faith-based organizations to assist in the fulfillment of the God-given vision for their businesses and organizations. Within the church, Jalima has served as a minister, a Small Group Pastor, Youth Pastor, and Associate Pastor. She has served in ministry for over 15 years and she and her husband are humbled by the opportunity to launch in the Kansas City Metro.
Jalima consistently challenges individuals to seek God’s purpose in all they do. She lives her life with the mindset that EVERYTHING she does, she does it unto the Lord.
