You Are Enough
The challenges in life can often bring you to a place where you feel that you are not good enough. Not good enough for love, friendships, or happiness. These false beliefs are often caused by life’s disappointments, betrayals, and resentments. The truth of the matter is that you are good enough. The circumstances we face in life, good or bad, cannot be the deciding factor of how we see ourselves. To govern your life by this false truth means living in a state of confusion because life’s circumstances are fluid and ever changing. Therefore, we must base our value and self-worth on what God says about us. When you live your life based on how God sees you will say, “My circumstances do not determine how I see myself but how I see myself determines the outcome of my circumstances”. This statement does not mean you will avoid hardship but it means that your circumstances will work out for your good (Rm 8:28). This truth only works when we begin to see ourselves the way God sees us:
Then I ask, “Why do you care
about us humans?
Why are you concerned
for us weaklings?”
You made us a little lower
than you yourself,
and you have crowned us
with glory and honor.
You let us rule everything
your hands have made.
And you put all of it
under our power
God sees us as one who has been given authority on the earth. We have authority over everything that God has made; this includes you. You have authority over yourself. Again I say, “My circumstances do not determine how I see myself by how I see myself determines the outcome of my circumstances”. We must remember that we are God’s children and he is a loving father who has given us, and will give us all we need to live a glorious life. You are good enough because God said so. Psalms 8:4-6 is not the only scripture that shows us that we are special to God and are worthy of every blessing he wants to give us. The prophet Jeremiah thought he wasn’t good enough because of his youth so God reminded him that he was enough.
The word of the Lord came to me, saying,
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart;
I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
“Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said,
“I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”
But the Lord said to me,
“Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I
send you to and say whatever I command you.
Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you
and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.
Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth
and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth.
See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms
to uproot and tear down, to destroy
and overthrow, to build and to plant.”
Come out of agreement with what your enemies, haters, and past has said about you. Those negative words and circumstances are causing death but you have the power to choose life. God’s words to you will always bring you life. Life can be born from our disappointments, betrayals, and resentments. How will you choose to live your life? Come in agreement with what God says about you and begin to use your God given authority. You can and will find true love, friendships, and happiness.
